Annotation - Czech
The doctoral seminar represents one of the key study obligations. It focuses on the ongoing activities of the doctoral student in relation to the dissertation project and on his/her further publication activities. The focus of the seminars is on the discussion between doctoral students and supervisors on individual projects or other professional activities of doctoral students. Doctoral seminars emphasize the professional and methodological context of projects and their processing. Seminar leaders may rotate among members of the departmental board with respect to the projects that are presented and discussed. Doctoral Seminar: - The student is obliged to attend the Doctoral Seminar throughout his/her studies. - 75% attendance at the seminar and active presentation of progress on the dissertation is expected.
In the case of a placement trip, the learner is excused from participation, but is not excused from the obligation to complete the actual output. - The Doctoral Seminar requirement will be automatically recorded for the student in each year of study. The seminar is held during the winter and summer semesters with a monthly frequency. During the PhD seminar, the PhD student will carry out the following activities: - Familiarization with practical issues of scientific work (ethics of scientific work, use of citation software, publication and grant opportunities, academic writing, etc.), preparation of writing conference abstracts, preparation of poster - 1st year of study. - Preparation of dissertation theses and presentation of their proposal, presentation of prepared professional presentations (papers, posters, articles) - 2nd year of study. - Presentation of the progress of the dissertation, based on the working version of a part of the dissertation (prepared chapter or article ready for publication), followed by discussion and comments - 3rd and every subsequent year of study. - Rehearsal of presentations for international conferences, exchange of experiences from study trips, internships and conferences - 3rd and every subsequent year of study. - Dissertation defence training - typically 4th year of study.
