The B2 exam tests the B2 level of language knowledge and skills needed for both everyday communication and communication in an academic environment.

The student demonstrates both receptive skills (listening comprehension, reading comprehension) and productive skills (written and oral expression on a given topic).

Requirements to the exam -

The exam consists of a written and an oral part.

The written part accounts for 60% of the overall assessment, the oral part 40%.

Written part - takes place face-to-face

  • listening with understanding
  • reading comprehension
  • grammar-lexical test
  • own written expression (letter or essay)

To complete the written part of the exam, it is necessary to obtain min. 60%. From each part of the test, a min. 50%.

If the student fails to complete one part of the test, the student is classified as "failed" (grade 4), but in the make-up period he can only take the part that he failed in the previous test. Partial correction is possible only within the given examination period.

Newly, for the oral part of the exam, students will process from the chosen text of study field :

in writing: summary (points are enough) + list of 3-5 keywords
orally: structured presentation (approx. 5 min.)
Students submit the technical text, summary and keywords by e-mail to: kateryna.zubkovska@ff.cuni.cz no later than 3 days before the exam.


Oral part - takes place in person or by appointment online (on the same day or by agreement with the teacher in the following days, within a week at the latest)

  • analysis of the result of the written test
  • a short introduction of the student in a foreign language and an interview in Russian on a topic close to the academic environment
  • structured presentation of a selected professional text in the Russian language and discussion of it
  • interpretation of excerpts selected from the text of study field by the teacher (with an emphasis on understanding the language used – summary, paraphrase, translation, list of arguments, etc.)

To complete the oral part of the exam, it is necessary to obtain min. 50%.

Evaluation criteria for the oral part

  • structure and content of the presentation
  • fluency of speech including correct/intelligible pronunciation
  • accuracy of expression (selection and use of grammatical and lexical structures)
  • interaction
  • interpretation of excerpt

The text of study field (new scope of approx. 20 NS)

The text must relate to the field of study and contain all the essentials of a professional work (citation and note apparatus, etc.). For all types of exams, we recommend that you consult the appropriateness of the text in advance with the teacher of the relevant language. The text must come from a native speaker, or be published by a reputable foreign publishing house (not e.g. anonymous websites, Wikipedia, etc.), it must not be a translation from another language. The text can also be composed of two sources, with photocopies a title page with the names of the authors and bibliographic information (editor, publisher, year of publication) must be attached. It must not contain any personal notes or entries.
Students of other faculties choose a text related to one of the fields studied at FF.

To complete the entire exam, it is necessary to obtain min. 60%.
