3x 6 hours practical part, 2x 2 hours theoretical part by appointment Department of Pathology and Central Laboratories - Laboratory of Genomic Medicine FNKV The course is intended for students, especially 3rd year students of general medicine, who want to gain an overview of modern methods used for the diagnosis of cancer, indication for biological treatment, prediction of the course of the disease. The course demonstrates the specific application of molecular pathology methods at the nucleic acid level and their integration in other clinical disciplines (e.g. surgery, pediatrics, oncology, hematology).

Course content - THEORETICAL PART:

The theoretical part will take the form of seminars with continuous discussion and case assignments.

Course content - PRACTICAL PART:

The practical laboratory part demonstrates the nucleic acid level diagnostic approach used in pathology. The laboratory practicals will include the actual laboratory processing of diagnostically interesting case reports from the department's biopsy service - from receiving and processing the material, to performing molecular methodologies, to making a diagnosis and discussing the findings.
