The course introduces the issue of the Torah or the Pentateuch (the five books of Moses).
The general part discusses basic questions of the literary history of this ensemble, ie its gradual formation and the corresponding shifts in style and in theological thinking from the stage of oral traditions to the final editorial.
Then follows the introduction into literary species (narrative, legislation) according to individual books (Gn, Ex, Lv, Nm, Dt) accompanied by brief exegesis of characteristic texts.

Kurs seznamuje s problematikou Tóry neboli Pentateuchu (pěti knih Mojžíšových).
Ve všeobecné části se probírají základní otázky literární historie tohoto souboru, tj. jeho postupné formace a tomu odpovídajících posunů ve stylu i v teologickém myšlení od stadia ústních tradic až po závěrečnou redakci.
Pak následuje uvedení do literárních druhů (vyprávění, legislativa) podle jednotlivých knih (Gn, Ex, Lv, Nm, Dt) doprovozené stručnou exegezí charakteristických textů.

Requirements to the exam -
Active participation in lessons (max. 3 absences), successful passing of ordinary tests and preparation and presentation of a paper (ca. 9000-10000 characters) are required for admission to the examination.
The examination has a written and an oral part; both of them check the knowledge acquired during the semester.
