The aims of the study unit are that the student: - knows how to plan and carry out a placement social work, community development or diaconal work - is able to develop a personal understanding of professional identity in practice - is able to use the concepts of participatory social work and community development work - knows how to work in a responsible manner and follow a supervised, planned approach to the placement - is able to write a reflective report based on experience in context, to present the report and act on feedback The contents of the study unit include: - Experience of professional work - Professional identity and practice - Use of professional concepts - Supervision in social work and diaconia - Reflection and report writing in social work and diaconia Process of the Study Unit Week 8 Mag. Tony Addy Placement guidelines Weeks 9 - 11, 13-16 (plus finalizing placement and report in weeks 18 - 20 Mag. Tony Addy, Placement Supervisor 125 hours practical work in the placement including placement report Week 21 Mag. Tony Addy Placement feedback session |

Individual work: 127 placement learning, placement diary with time table confirmed by placement tutors; production of placement report. |
