We shall present the basic concepts of the theory of Compressed Sensing, as introduced by T. Tao, D. Donoho and E. Candes in 2006. The topics include especially: sparsity and solutions to underdetermined linear systems, basis pursuit, null space property, coherence and restricted isometry property, Gaussian random matrices, Gelfand widths, Johnson-Lindenstrauss embedding. We will also discuss interactions with functional analysis, numerics, and stochastics. The lecture is oriented on students of the third year (and older).
