Basic characterisation of plasma (discharge plasma and cosmic plasma). Elementary processes (ionisation, recombination, ion-molecule reactions) Micro and macro parameters of plasma (Debye shielding, plasma potential, plasma density, electron temperature, distribution function). 1. Basic characterisation of plasma
Definition of various types of plasma (isothermic and non-isothermic plasma, plasma in the discharge and in the space). Plasma parameters.

2. Collision processes
Ionisation, Penning ionisation, ion-molecule reaction, recombination, formation of negative ions. Experimental techniques used in studies of elementary processes.

3. Micro and macro parameters of plasma
Debye shielding, plasma potential, plasma density, electron and ion temperature. Electron and ion energy distribution functions. Plasma frequency, collision frequency.

4. Kinetic plasma description
Boltzmann kinetic equation and its solution. Transport phenomena in plasma, plasma conductivity, diffusion and ambipolar diffusion. Plasma in magnetic field.

5. Plasma diagnostics
Overview of the diagnostics methods. Lagmuir probe. Microwave diagnostics. Plasma spectroscopy. Emission and absorption of radiation in plasma.
