The course is focusing on main problems of the development of ethnic groups, nationalities and nations of Central and Eastern Europe. It deals with area "between" Germany and Russia since the second half of 19th century up to now. In the course the statistics are used.

Assessment of the course:
Students
a) read compulsory readings (Eberhardt + Magocsi)
b) write and submit interpretations of (any) three texts related to three topics in the sylabus (2 pages each) except for the Eberhardt book, deadline: end of April
c) do test based on presentations and P. Eberhardt´s book.
d) assessment of the course: 30 % position papers, 70 % test
