The seminar introduces students to various aspects of medieval art on the British Isles from the ancient times of the Roman Empire up to the Late Middle Ages. Focus will be on the function of art objects in the historical context. Students will thus gain knowledge and understanding of cultural relationships and have a broad knowledge of the Middle Ages with its philosophical and theological characteristics.
