The aim of this subject is to present the basic theoretical knowledge from the field of literary science in form of a lecture. Students should be prepared to complete analytical home assignments. The seminar consists of the reading and analysis of different literary texts in German (prose, poetry, drama). Students will be encouraged to develop their own interpretation skills based on the careful analysis of the text. All students of Introduction to Literature should be able to analyse a text critically by the end of the course. Written exam consists of two parts. In the theoretical part the theoretical knowledge of the field of literary science is tested. The student will answer ten questions. In the practical part of the exam the student will interpret a literary text as complexly as possible. Not only originality and complexity but also language skills will be evaluated. The final mark is the average of the marks from the theoretical and practical parts.
