The course deals with the development of literature in the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Democratic Republic, Austria and Switzerland. Literary events and cultural life in individual countries are related to the developmental tendencies of literature, they are devoted to prose (G. Grass, H. Böll, I. Bachmann, E. Jelinek), drama (F. Dürrenmatt, M. Frisch, T. Bernhard, P. Handke), poetry (I. Bachmann, H.M. Enzensberger, W. Biermann). C. Wolf is in point of interest in case of the literature from the GDR. Attention is also paid to authors standing in a contradictory position to the system, e.g. J. Becker, U. Plenzdorf). This course is taught in German.

Kurz se zabývá vývojem literatury ve Spolkové republice Německo, Německé demokratické republice, Rakousku a Švýcarsku. Literární události a kulturní život v jednotlivých zemích jsou spojeny s tendencemi literárního vývoje. Pozornost je věnována próze (G. Grass, H. Böll, I. Bachmann, E. Jelinek), dramtu (F. Dürrenmatt, M. Frisch, T. Bernhard, P. Handke), básně (I. Bachmann, H.M. Enzensberger, W. Biermann). Pozornost je také věnována autorům GDR, kteří byli v protikladném postavení vůči systému(např. literární dílo J. Beckera, U. Plenzdorfa). Kurz probíhá v němčině.

Der Kurs befasst sich mit der Literaturentwicklung in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik, in Österreich und in der Schweiz. Literarische Ereignisse und kulturelles Leben in einzelnen Ländern werden in die Relation mit den Literaturentwicklungstendenzen gesetuzt. Die Aufmerksamkeit wird der Prosa (G. Grass, H. Böll, I. Bachmann, E. Jelinek), dem Drama (F. Dürrenmatt, M. Frisch, T. Bernhard, P. Handke), Gedichte (I. Bachmann, H.M. Enzensberger, W. Biermann)gewidmet. Die Aufmerksamkeit wird auch den jenigen DDR-Autoren geschenkt, die in einer widersprüchlichen Position zum System standen (z.B. dem lietrarischen Schaffen von J. Becker, U. Plenzdorf). Dieser Kurs verläuft auf Deutsch.

The lecture provides an overview of the German literature from 1960 - 1990. Post-war literature of West Germany (1945–1967): Heinrich Böll, Günter Grass, Group 47; Holocaust literature (Paul Celan, Edgar Hilsenrath). GDR Literature in East Germany: Johannes R. Becher, Wolf Biermann, Bertolt Brecht, Sarah Kirsch, Günter Kunert, Reiner Kunze, Heiner Müller, Anna Seghers, Christa Wolf. Postwar literature of Switzerland and Austria: Ingeborg Bachmann, Thomas Bernhard, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Max Frisch, Elfriede Jelinek, Peter Handke. Postmodern literature: Christian Kracht, Hans Wollschläger, Christoph Ransmayr, Marlene Streeruwitz, Rainald Goetz, Clemens J. Setz, Oswald Wiener.

 

 

In the seminar students will be asked to read carefully and analyse critically literary texts of various genres from 1960 - 1990.
