Students learn about the latest trends in foreign language teaching with emphasis on humanization of
education, characteristics of different kinds of alternative methods, development of autonomous learning, use of modern
information technologies in foreign language teaching and methods of work with pupils with special educational needs. The
course focuses on the development of students? skills that help them apply given information when managing foreign
language teaching process.
The characteristics of foreign language teaching at the turn of the century. Changes in development of
communicative approach to foreign language teaching. Contemporary approach to communicative competence and its
components. Sociocultural aspects of foreign language teaching. Relation between taught and real foreign language
communication. More emphasized focus on pupils? individuality and contemporary conception of foreign language teaching.
Humanistic tendencies of foreign language teaching, use of didactic games. Alternative conceptions and intensive methods
of foreign language teaching.
