It deals with a wide range of topics, including the production and reception of language, first language acquisition by children, second and foreign language acquisition by children and adults, the relationship between language and thought, reading and writing, verbal and non-verbal communication, animal communication, biological prerequisites of communication, speech disorders, bilingualism, etc. Many theoretical concepts are demonstrated using suitable illustrative samples.
