In this course, students are familiarised with the essential contributions of historical sociology to the study of state and democracy.

Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s vybranými základními pojmy a autory historické sociologie politiky. Studentům je představen vývoj politických systémů od předstátních útvarů až po moderní státy. Důraz je kladen na weberiánskou tradici.

Zkouška je písemný test plus ústní pohovor.

Zkouška se sestává:

1. z látky přednesené na přednáškách

2. z povinné literatury, kterou je zejména kniha Fukuyamy The Origins of Political order (pro magisterské studenty HISO je povinné přečíst CELOU knihu, pro bakaláře stačí znalost látky z přednášek.

Povinná literatura v Syllabu dole je zastaralá, byla sestavena před vydáním Fukuyamovy knihy, takže ji berte jako doporučenou.
