The basic aim is to introduce students to the most important philosophical and ethical knowledge of the past, which are used and applicable in the present, not only in philosophical but also in applied ethics. It goes to learn the basics of the historical development of philosophical-ethical thought from antiquity to the end of the 19th century. The main focus of the can be focused on ancient virtue ethics, modern rationalist and empirical ethics, Kant's deontological ethics and 19th century utilitarianism. To a lesser extent, other periods in the history of ethical of ethical thought, but they are not as often used as historical-philosophical and ethical sources for approaching questions and problems of applied ethics today (for example, Renaissance and humanist ethics, Enlightenment ethics and etc.). The main goal is to create a philosophical-ethical methodological basis in the form of knowledge of values, principles, rules and norms of ethical theories of the past that could serve as a basis for formulating approaches to contemporary ethical theories and their use in solving specific theoretical and practical problems in the chosen field applied ethics.
