This course is intended solely for the combined form of study. Its purpose is to offer various approaches to reading the comprehensive work by German historian Georg Iggers on 20th-century historiography. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the academic discipline of historiography in the second half of the 19th century and throughout the 20th century. In it, the author focuses primarily on German, French, and Anglo-Saxon historiography. He clearly and incisively demonstrates how the original conviction regarding the objectivity of historical-scientific knowledge, which took shape during the era of historicism, has been challenged since the 1890s by a wide variety of critiques and new interpretive approaches, most notably by French historiography of the 1960s. It also devotes considerable attention to the development of cultural history, the history of mentalities, and the so-called linguistic turn. The aim of the lecture is also to situate Iggers within the history of historiography, to present alternative approaches to the history of historiography (biographical, thematic, discursive), and to introduce students to the author of the book as the writer of other works on historiography.

Předmět je určen pouze pro kombinovanou formu studia. Jeho smyslem je nabídnout různé způsoby čtení synteticky pojaté práce německého historika Georga Iggerse o historiografii 20. století. Tato kniha reprezentuje syntetický výklad vědeckého oboru, historiografie, ve druhé polovině 19. a ve 20. století. Autor se v ní zaměřuje především na německou, francouzskou a anglosaskou historiografii. Přehledně a pronikavě ukazuje, jak bylo původní přesvědčení o objektivitě historicko-vědního poznání, které se formovalo v éře historismu, od 90. let 19. století zpochybňováno nejrůznějšími kritikami a novými interpretačními přístupy, nejvýrazněji francouzskou historiografií 60. let 20. století. Velkou pozornost rovněž věnuje rozvoji kulturního dějepisu, dějinám mentalit a tzv. lingvistickému obratu. Cílem přednášky je rovněž zasadit osobu Iggerse do dějin dějepisectví, představit alternativní přístupy k dějinám dějepisectví (biografický, tematický, diskurzivní) a zpřístupnit studentům pisatele knihy také jako autora dalších dějepisných prací.

Requirements to the exam

Referát v rozsahu 3-4 normostrany byl měl být založen na charakteristice základních historiografických směrů 20. století. Zvláštní pozornost je možné věnovat francouzské škole Annales. Referát je třeba vypracovat samostatně, postihnout hlavní myšlenky a zasadit je do širšího kontextu. Zároveň může mít referát podobu konfrontace či srovnání Iggersových názorů s interpretacemi jiných historiků, popřípadě může být založen na komparaci Iggersovy knihy s jeho dalšími historiografickými díly, včetně jeho osobních pamětí. Vypracovaný referát je třeba odevzdávat na email vyučujícího před koncem zkouškového období.
