Czech Intermediate is a two-semester course designed for students who have already studied Czech and reached level A1. If your level is higher than B1 (certificate or study at a Czech university in Czech language), please do not register. The course mainly targets students of english undergraduate program Liberal Arts and Humanities that are staying in Czech Republic for years and need to cover the basis of the language in order to communicate in everyday situations. The aim is to provide the students with basic skills, grammar and vocabulary to deal with the life in the Czech Republic, to give them an idea of the Czech language system as well as Czech culture.

The course covers the following themes:

o Introduction - giving personal info, verb to be

o Directions - asking for and giving directions

o Restaurant - ordering food, accusative sg.

o Daily routine - verb conjugation

o Telling time, days of the week, numbers - modal verbs

o Family - natural and grammatical gender

o Talking about the past - past tense.

Attendance and participation is mandatory. More than 50% absence will lead to failure and the student will not be allowed to take the final exam.

The final grade will be base on attendance and class participation (incl. homework) 50% and final test 50%.
