This course is intended for those students who are interested in the study of reading skills development, and would like to be further involved in the research in this field. The course combines theoretical lectures with practical training in both data collection techniques and fieldwork.

Na tomto semináři se studenti seznámí se základními texty, které se zabývají problematikou nových médií ale také proměnami společnosti, které s novými médii a komunikačními technologiemi souvisí. Texty se zabývají přeměnou společenských institucí a vzrůstající důležitostí informací v dnešní době. Další z textů se pak zaměřují na konkrétní vlastnosti nových médií, či jejich vlastnosti a jevy. Důležité je propojení médií a modernity; kurz by tak měl sloužit také jako propojení otázek, které se týkají technologického vývoje a jeho vlivu na soudobou společnost.

Na semináři vždy bude diskutovaný text z minulého týdne. Studenti mají za úkol k textu vypracovat abstrakt a zodpovědět otázky, které se konkrétních textů týkají. Nutná je účast alespoň na osmi seminářích. Písemné podklady pak poslouží k vytvoření výsledné známky.
