Annotation
Economic processes play an important role in the spheres of life which we would normally not adhere to economic domain. In this course we will touch the economic mechanisms governing such spheres of life like dating, marriage, happiness, the ideas about good and evil, immigration, religion inequality. We will also dig into gender pay gap, political systems, cryptocurrencies, alternative monetary systems and the stock markets. The aims on the course is to 1. link economic theories to topics usually covered by other social sciences, 2. develop the ability to critically watch video contents, 3. improve the ability to structure and lead the discussions and 4. improve writing and presentation skills.

Anotace
Ekonomické procesy hrají důležitou roli ve sférách života, které bychom normálně nepřisuzovali hospodářské oblasti. V tomto kurzu se budeme dotýkat ekonomických mechanismů, které řídí takové sféry života, jako je hledaní partnera, manželství, štěstí, představy o dobru a zlu, imigraci, náboženské nerovnosti. Také se budeme zabývat rozdíly v odměňování žen a mužů, politickými systémy, kryptoměnami, alternativními měnovými systémy a akciovými trhy. Cílem předmětu je 1. propojit ekonomické teorie s tématy, které jsou obvykle pokryty jinými společenskými vědami, 2. rozvíjet schopnost kriticky sledovat video obsah, 3. zlepšit schopnost strukturovat a vést diskuze a 4. zlepšit psaní a prezentaci dovednosti.

The students will be required to watch the video content at home and prepare for the class discussion. In case of more students in class the discussion will take a form of round tables. A group of students will also be required to prepare the presentation of the topic in class and to lead the discussions. At the end of the semester the students will write the final paper.

· Attendance: students are allowed to miss the class without an excuse two times at most. Otherwise the grade will be lowered.
