Annotation

This Block Seminar about issues of burn-out among pastors will take place from November 8 to 10. We focus on professions in the theological field (teachers, diaconia workers and pastors) where the calling has been strong but due to exhaustion and burn-out people have been taking long leaves or changing their careers completely. Dr. Kees van Dam, who deals in his work with pastors in this respect, will work with us. We share stories in the form of panel discussion and include the theme throughout the weekend.

The tentative program is as follows:

Friday, 8 November
17:00 Arrivals, opportunity to meet informally with refreshments.
18:00 Official opening. Group discussion.
Afterwards film “The Two Popes”.

Saturday, 9 November
9:30 Morning prayer
10:00 Welcome and introduction of speaker Kees van Dam.
12:30 Lunch (Restaurant U Zpěváčků)
14:00 Group discussions with 3 panellists.
15:30 Annual meeting of Spolek – no elections this year.
16:00 Leave for Kafka Museum.
16:30 Guided tour of Kafka Museum.
18:30 Evening meal in restaurant U Veverky.

Sunday, 10 November
Church service

The course takes places in room F on the 3rd floor of PTF.

In order to complete the course students are required to write a reflection paper of 400-600 words on the seminar, which shall be submitted by November 30.
