Annotation -
The course Theory and Fundamentals of Didactics of Canoeing and Water Tourism introduces students to paddling on flat, flowing, and white water. The course is divided into two parts: 1) Canoeing tourism trip on the Ohře River (2.5 days): A model canoeing tourism event conducted using plastic touring tandem canoes. Students become familiar with the practical leadership of a canoeing trip, gain hands-on understanding of the navigability of selected weirs and rapids, learn to work with canoeing guidebooks, and acquire the basics of safe organization of canoeing activities. 2) Troja (5 days): The five-day training block in Troja further develops tandem canoeing skills (2 days). Students are introduced in greater depth to white-water rescue techniques (0.5 day), kayaking (1.5 days), and rafting (0.5 day). The course concludes with a test and practical assessments in tandem canoeing and single kayaking. By successfully meeting the practical assessment requirements in tandem canoeing (with both the bow paddler and stern paddler being evaluated), kayaking, and by passing the oral examination, students are awarded a graded course credit (KZ). Upon successful completion of the course PSPP423, students should acquire the competencies necessary for teaching water tourism. To an appropriate extent, they should be able to: Organize one-day and multi-day canoeing tourism events, ensure safe organization, and manage potential crisis situations. Provide professional supervision of school canoeing activities. Operate the basic types of craft used in canoeing and water tourism, including a tandem canoe, kayak, and multi-person raft. Provide rescue assistance in emergency situations. Graduates of the course PSPP423 are awarded a School Water Tourism Instructor licence, which is valid for life.
