The subject follows the course "Physical Therapy I". In the theoretical part of the course, students will acquire knowledge of the principles of using individual types of physical energies for the purpose of therapy of patients with various types of disabilities. In the practical part, the students are introduced to the technical parameters of instrumentation, which are used for the application of physical energies, including the training of its operation. In addition to therapeutic procedures, students will acquire knowledge and skills for electrodiagnostics. By completing the course, the student is equipped with the skills to apply physical therapy procedures using devices used in practice.

Learning Outcomes:

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and general competencies so that after the completion of the course, the student:

  • demonstrates knowledge of general principles of instrumental physical therapy
  • demonstrates knowledge of the effects and uses of low-frequency current electrotherapy and electrodiagnostic and electrostimulation in the treatment of patients in physiotherapy
  • demonstrates knowledge of the effects and uses of middle-frequency current electrotherapy including modifications for practical using of electrotherapy
  • demonstrates knowledge of using of magnetotherapy, mechanotherapy and specialized phototherapy
  • demonstrates an understanding of the indications and contraindications of all instrumental therapeutic techniques for various diagnoses
  • demonstrates the ability to apply instrumental physical therapy in various diagnoses
  • demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effect of physical therapy in the patient
