The lectures deal with the issue of genetics and the description of general patterns characterizing heredity and
variability. The general biological processes discussed in anatomy, biochemistry and physiology are followed by knowledge from
molecular genetics, oncogenetics, with regard to ecological influences. The importance of genetic load is documented on
examples of genes and traits, hereditary diseases and defects, including in relation to physical activity.
The course is focused on acquiring theoretical knowledge in the field of human anatomy and physiology and their application to
areas of genetics.

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of genetics and the description of general laws characterizing heredity and variability. The student can correctly define and use professional terminology (sign, gene...) The student can describe the cell cycle, describe the principles of genetic information transfer. The student knows the basic methods of genetic screening, has an overview of genetically determined defects and diseases, can describe the risks of their occurrence. The student can explain the importance of monitoring genetically determined diseases in relation to the health status of the population. Last update: Kinkorová Ivana, Mgr., Ph.D. (15.12.2023)
