Annotation -
This subject is taught in Czech. During lessons students listen to selected chapters from ancient political, cultural and economical history, ancient mythology and geography, this all in context with history of the Mediterranean. Reception of classical tradition in history and culture of Europe is mentioned briefly, too. The approach is chronologic and discusses the history of Rome - royal era, republic, empire, late antiquity, collapse of Roman empire and the barbarisation of the Mediterranean.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to present the history and culture of the ancient Greece and Rome and briefly also its "Nachleben" to the students.
