Annotation -
The course focuses on the basic principles of human movement from a kinesiology perspective and their application in the pedagogical practice of physical education teachers. It builds on basic knowledge of anatomy and develops an understanding of human movement in the context of the interrelationship between the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system, which influences the way movement is performed, as well as its quality and effectiveness. Emphasis is placed on the observation and analysis of basic movement skills and the identification of errors in their technical execution.

Aim of the course -

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to analyse and describe, at a basic level, the performance of fundamental movement skills from a kinesiology and musculoskeletal function perspective, identify common errors in their execution, and propose appropriate preparatory, practice, and compensatory exercises to support correct movement performance.

Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the teaching and practice of movement skills included in physical education at primary and secondary school levels, in accordance with the requirements of the Czech Framework Educational Programmes (RVP).

Course completion requirements -

Conditions for Course Completion:

Active participation in theoretical and practical classes.

Completion of assigned practical tasks throughout the semester.

Preparation of a basic kinesiological analysis of a selected motor skill (as specified by the instructor).

Learning outcomes -
  1. The student explains the basic principles of human movement and its control from a kinesiology perspective, with a focus on physical education.
  2. The student describes the basic kinesiological aspects of movement of the axial system, particularly the spine and pelvis.
  3. The student characterizes the basic kinesiological aspects of upper and lower limb function and their importance for movement activities in physical education.
  4. The student explains the relationship between the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system and its significance for movement performance.
  5. The student explains the basic principles of the effects of physical loading on the human musculoskeletal system.
  6. The student performs a basic kinesiological analysis of a selected movement or motor skill, focusing on the planes and axes of movement, joint movements, involvement of the major muscle groups, and individual phases of movement.
  7. The student analyses basic movement activities used in physical education using knowledge of kinesiology, anatomy, and the fundamentals of biomechanics.
  8. The student identifies common technical errors in the performance of selected motor skills and proposes basic pedagogical corrections.
  9. The student proposes and justifies appropriate preparatory and practice exercises for the acquisition and improvement of motor skills included in physical education at primary and secondary school levels.
  10. The student compares the kinesiological characteristics of selected movement and sports activities and identifies their common and specific aspects.
