Annotation -
The aim is to prepare the student to perform the necessary procedures in creating a thesis with emphasis on the type of theoretical-empirical work. The stages of the research process, its design and implementation will be analyzed. Observations and types of descriptive studies. Experiment and types of experiments. Quality research. Research file, size and types of research file selection. Diagnostic tools - types of tools and evaluation of their properties. Use of information sources - orientation in scientific databases. Descriptive and inductive statistics. Structure and preparation of the diploma thesis syllabus. The course ends with the elaboration of the concept of the diploma thesis and its presentation.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the preparation and reporting of a thesis, work with professional sources and AI, formulation of scientific questions, hypotheses. Students should be able to use basic descriptive statistics and master hypothesis testing.

Learning outcomes -

Student:

- understand the formal and content requirements for theses prepared at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University (including the rules for the use of software called "artificial intelligence")
- understand the focus and content of the individual parts of the thesis
- characterise the focus of their thesis
- searches for professional sources relevant to the preparation of the thesis
- is able to critically evaluate the quality and relevance of information sources
- formulates thesis objectives, research questions and hypotheses relevant to the assumed diploma thesis topic
- assesses the suitability of different research methods
- presents the topic and the process of solving their diploma thesis
