The goal of this course is to familiarize the students with the complicated and often chaotic development of modern literature in German speaking territories with the onset of post-modernism in the last decades of the 20th century. The course further explains the basic concepts of contemporary literature (modernism, post-modernism) and attempts to characterize them with respect to the historical and philosophical development of contemporary Europe. The lecture gives evidence of its theses from the works German modern authors the most current German, Austrian, and Swiss post-modern authors. The course has been taught in German.

Cílem kursu je seznámit studenty s komplikovaných a poněkud nepřehledným vývojem moderní literatury v německojazyčné oblasti s nástupem postmoderny v posledních desetiletích 20. století. Vysvětlí základní pojmy současné literatury (moderna, modernismus, postmoderna)a pokusí se je s ohledem na historický a filosofický vývoj současné Evropy charakterizovat. Přednáška dokládá teze příklady z děl německých modernistických autorů i nejsoučasnějších postmoderních autorů německých, rakouských a švýcarských. Kurs bude probíhat za dodržení preventivních opatření s největší pravděpodobností již prezenčně. Na kurs navazuje a rozšiřuje ho PVK kurs Seminář k současné literatuře dr. Bučkové.
