Annotation

The main aim of this course is familiarising students with the elementary principles of sociolinguistics, social varieties and regional dialectology. The focus is also on factors which shape language as a social phenomenon (e.g. social class, age, gender, ethnicity) and aspects of social structure which influence linguistic choice at different planes (phonological, morpho-syntactic, lexial).

Hlavním cílem kurzu je obeznámit studenty se základními principy sociolingvistiky, s oblastí sociálních variet a regionální dialektologie. Kurz se zaměřuje rovněž na faktory, které jazyk jako společenský fenomén formují (např. společenská třída, věk, pohlaví, etnicita) a na aspekty sociální struktury, které mají vliv na výběr jazykových prostředků na různých plánech (fonologický, morfo-syntaktický, lexikální plán).

Descriptors

Distance learning will be taking place online, essentially in the form of interactive communication and via seminars and consultations in Google Classroom and Zoom . Study materials will be provided electronically via the aforementioned channels. E-mail communication will also be used in support of the previously mentioned forms.

Kurz je zakončen semestrální prací, jejíž téma bude oznámeno při začátku výuky. Semestrální práce musí být včas odevzdána k datu oznámenému na začátku semestru. Případnou opravu nevyhovujícího znění práce mohou studenti odevzdat pouze jednou.

Součástí hodnocení je i jazyková a formulační úroveň.
