Students are introduced to forms of performative, action and process art from the early 20th century to the present, situational art and other cooperative and participatory art forms. The course utilizes processes of action and reaction, improvisation, and dialogic negotiation. It develops students' perception of the personal creative process as well as the ability to engage in the process of collective creation. The goal of the course is for the graduate to be able to perceive the dynamics of the group and the social bonds within it and to be able to use them harmoniously in artistic activities.
The outcome may be intermedia installations based on the creative process.
