Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to provide students with a knowledge-based system-based basis that will enable them to teach older Czech literature at various levels of education. The course consists of lectures, which will include the following topics: 1. Periodization of literature of the older period. 2. Spiritual song pre-Hussite language Czech and Latin. 3. Hussitism and spiritual song, religious streams of Bohemia in the 16th century and their relationship to spiritual song. 4. The post-White Mountain spiritual song and its influence on other changes of the genre in the 19th century. 5. Prayer in the changes of medieval and early modern literature. 6. Hagiography, its importance in the history of older Czech literature, saints, canonization. The oldest legends on the Czech territory. 7. Pre-Hussite legend, developmental tendencies, forms. The relationship of Hussite to hagiography. 8. Hagiography in the early modern period, confessional attitudes towards saints, post-White Mountain legend. 9. Homiletics in the history of older Czech literature, link to ancient and medieval rhetoric. 10. Early modern preaching, changes of genre: art of new elocence and its retreat. 11. Recreative literature and its ambivalence forms in the Middle Ages. 12. Short narrative genres in the early modern period, fabule, švanky, exempla. Syncreticity of functions. The course includes seminars focusing on practical knowledge of reading old texts, both printed and handwritten. Possibilities of interpretation of older Czech literature will be demonstrated on selected works

Cílem předmětu je poskytnout studentům znalostní systémově založenou bází, díky níž budou schopni vyučovat starší českou literaturu na různých stupních školství. Předmět sestává z přednášek, které budou zahrnovat tyto okruhy: 1. Periodizace literatury staršího období. 2. Duchovní píseň předhusitská jazykově česká a latinská. 3. Husitství a duchovní píseň, náboženské proudy Čech 16. století a jejich vztah k duchovní písni. 4. Pobělohorská duchovní píseň a její vliv na další proměny žánru v 19. století. 5. Modlitba v proměnách středověké a raněnovověké literatury. 6. Hagiografie, její význam v dějinách starší české literatury, světci, kanonizace. Nejstarší legendy na českém území. 7. Předhusitská legendistika, vývojové tendence, formy. Vztah husitství k hagiografii. 8. Hagiografie v raném novověku, konfesijní postoje ke světcům, pobělohorská legendistika. 9. Homiletika v dějinách starší české literatury, vazba na antickou a středověkou rétoriku. 10. Raně novověké kazatelství, proměny žánru: umění nové elokvence a její ústup. 11. Rekreativní literatura a její ambivaletní podoby ve středověku. 12. Krátké narativní žánry v raném novověku, fabule, švanky, exempla. Synkretičnost funkcí. Součástí předmětu jsou semináře, zaměřující se na praktickou znalost čtení starých textů jak tištěných, tak rukopisných. Na vybraných dílech budou demonstrovány možnosti interpretace starší české literatury. 2) Submission of a structured list of literature containing at least 10 book titles of older Czech literature.

3) Participation in seminars with active participation.

 

 

A very good knowledge of the Czech language (including knowledge of its historical development) is a necessary condition.
