After an introductory discussion of language and communication, this seminar will discuss current and controversial aspects of the modern contemporary language in German society. The focus will be on the so-called inner multilingualism of German. Students learn about the various linguistic-geographical, sociological, historical and situational varieties, which can constantly pose a challenge for learners of german and native speakers aswell. Using individual texts as examples, aspects of oral and written language, dialect, colloquial and standard language, youth, gender and specialised language are discussed. On the other hand, language contact issues and the discussion of whether Anglicisms can be a threat to German will be addressed. Using examples from individual texts, learners will understand how the aspects of orality and writing, dialect, colloquial language and standard language, youth, gender and technical language characterise modern German. They also learn to understand the resulting sources of mistakes and after all misunderstanding. In the age of AI and social media, language users are faced with new linguistic and social challenges for which they must be prepared at school. Finally, students analyse how to deal with all these issues as teachers.

Po úvodní diskusi o jazyce a komunikaci se v tomto semináři budou probírat aktuální a kontroverzní aspekty moderního současného jazyka v německé společnosti. Důraz bude kladen na tzv. vnitřní vícejazyčnost němčiny. Studenti se seznámí s různými jazykově-zeměpisnými, sociologickými, historickými a situačními varietami, které mohou neustále představovat výzvu pro studenty němčiny i pro rodilé mluvčí. Na příkladech jednotlivých textů jsou probírány aspekty mluveného a psaného jazyka, dialektu, hovorového a standardního jazyka, jazyka mládeže, genderu a odborného jazyka. Na druhé straně se budou řešit otázky jazykového kontaktu a diskuse o tom, zda mohou být anglicismy pro němčinu hrozbou. Na příkladech z jednotlivých textů žáci pochopí, jak aspekty ústního a písemného projevu, dialektu, hovorového a standardního jazyka, jazyka mládeže, genderu a odborného jazyka charakterizují současnou němčinu. Naučí se také chápat výsledné zdroje chyb a koneckonců i nedorozumění. V době umělé inteligence a sociálních médií čelí uživatelé jazyka novým jazykovým a společenským výzvám, na které je třeba je ve škole připravit. Na závěr studenti analyzují, jak se se všemi těmito problémy mají vypořádat jako učitelé.

Learning outcomes

Studující:

• charakterizuje jazyk a řeč, a to ve vztahu k určité sociální skupině a ve vztahu k celé společnosti,
• popíše z hlediska kognitivní neuropsychologie a psycholingvistiky vztah jazyka a psychických procesů podílejících se na jeho produkci a porozumění,
• navrhne souhrn všech kontextů, v nichž se jazykový jev může objevovat,
• vysvětlí důležitost gramatických jevů a s ohledem na mateřský jazyk uvede možnosti, jak posílit aktivní účast žáků v procesu výuky.
