This will include both official documents and pictorial sources (photographs, posters) and, last but not least, audiovisual sources (sound recordings, films). Sources on Czechoslovak foreign action during the First World War and the Czechoslovak Legions. 3. The founding of Czechoslovakia in contemporary documents. 4. The building of the Czechoslovak state in the light of official and journalistic sources. 5. Pictorial sources on the history of the Russian Revolutions. 6. The United States of America after World War I and sources on its history. 7. Czech culture between the World Wars (literature, visual arts, music, film, theatre). 8. European and world culture between the World Wars (literature, visual arts, music, film, theatre). 9. Interpretation of the Great Depression. 10. Sources for the history of Czechoslovakia in the 1930s. 11. The rise of dictatorial and totalitarian regimes in the 1920s and 1930s in textual and pictorial sources. 12. Learning outcomes -

After completing the seminar, students will be able to distinguish between different types of sources on the history of the 20th century, describe them, categorize them and, last but not least, interpret them. However, it will of course depend to a large extent on the attitude of the students themselves as to whether they are willing to learn new skills and competences.
