The aim of this course is to transform linguistic knowledge gained in the bachelor?s study into didactically effective forms
adapted to the pupils? needs and abilities. Students will learn the theoretical basics of teaching key components of the
English language system and will be introduced to the theories and methods that significantly influenced the paradigm of
teaching grammar and lexis (e.g., grammar-translation method, behaviourism and the audio-lingual method, lexical approach).
Students will be encouraged to become aware of their own preconceptions. Their knowledge, skills and attitudes will be
developed through differentiated literature study, partner teaching, simulations of typical teaching strategies, peer teaching
and reflection. They will create their own portfolio of effective teaching activities developing communicative language
abilities.
