The subject of the theory of education is one of the basic pedagogical disciplines, which deals with the systematization and organization of the sciences of education, their goals, methods, forms, means and conditions. All this through the analysis and comparison of different theories, directions and educational ideologies, which provide a number of theoretical models and ways of thinking about the educational process. The goal of the course is to open up to pluralism in the field of education. It should serve as a map for the student of the field of pedagogy, which can show him the way in the intricacies of pedagogical theories, directions and ideologies. 1. Definition of the subject of the theory of education. 2. Three basic theoretical pillars on which pedagogy is based: philosophy, ideology and theory. 3. Philosophy and pedagogy (idealism, existentialism, etc.) 4. Ideology and pedagogy (conservatism, liberalism, etc.) 5. Theory and pedagogy (essentialism, progressivism, etc.) 6. Critical theories in pedagogy.

The subject is modified not only in the light of partial pedagogical disciplines, but as a plurality of pedagogical discourses. Each supporting and influential theory of education brought a new ideal, the purpose of which was to reform the old world and the old order. We will move in time and in the present, we will run into philosophy, ideology and theories from other social sciences.

Předmět má 5 kreditů dle ECTS, celková časová zátěž studenta odpovídá 140 hodinám. Doba očekávané přípravy na 1 hodinu setkání 35 minut, samostudium literatury (za celý semestr) 40 hodin, práce se studijními materiály (za celý semestr) 15 hodin, plnění průběžných úkolů (za celý semestr) 15 hodin. Written exam - professional essay The exam will take the form of a professional essay. I will send a short text or other stimulus by email. After reading the text several times, you will write your own professional essay, which you will respond to the content of the sent text, then send the prepared professional essay to the teacher (I will determine the exact writing time). See below for more detailed parameters, but above all you must use and cite the studied literature for the exam in the theory of education in the text (see below, experience and understanding of the study literature is assumed!!!), own opinions and attitudes, argued, citations, connections to the current educational reality etc. Number of pages: 6 pages of text including the literature used (font 12, distance 1.5), no less and no more Deadline: by appointment Delivery date: by arrangement Address for sending the essay: jiri.prokop@pedf.cuni.cz or prokopjura@volny.cz What will I primarily assess during the evaluation? 1. Clearly used sources in your text that you will rely on in your argument, or to which you will relate the selected topic (primarily use sources that are mandatory for the exam!!!!, but I will also acknowledge others, for example from a previous study... ). I simply have to see there that you have studied the required literature. Including citations according to the selected bibliographic standard. I will assess the rate and quality of citations. 2. Attention!!! The text for the essay sent by me can be just a starting, motivational text, you can go somewhere further from the topic in your own essay text, by taking a step .... but you must stay with the problem of education. 3. Your own text - a professional essay - you will update to the present, reflect in the direction of educational practice, not only narrowly to the chosen topic of the submitted text. 4. Own positions, arguments (they may not always be in agreement with the majority opinion). 5. Logical structure of the text. I recommend subsections, introduction, conclusion. 6. Compulsory keywords (approx. 4-5). 7. Abstract: max 3 lines! 8. An apt title for the essay that will correspond with the content of the essay.
