The course shows students the concept of children´s rights and its basis in rights philosophy and in child psychiatry. The aim is to increase awareness of children´s rights in the Czech Republic. The course focuses on clarifying the following terms: basic life values, historical development of rights, social ecological module. The course emphasizes the need of interdisciplinary approach towards children?s protection. The course offers students space to develop their opinions and to present them, to analyze their attitudes and discuss specific cases.

1. Law basics (law, rule of law, legal standards, legal sources system, legal branch, rule of law, legal subjects, public and private law, juridical subjectivity.
2. Position of the Convention on the rights of the child in the legal system of the Czech Republic
3. Problems of the alternative family care (forms, alternatives, institutional framework, procedures and possible risks).
4. Protection of children before social-pathological phenomenons
5. Family act (marriage - formation, dissolution. Marriage - colourable, invalid, divorce, children protection in divorce, paternity test, substitute family care, adoption and surrogate care, alimony.
