Annotation -
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with principles of methodology and research in the field of music theory, music education, history, literature and other specific disciplines that relate to the field of Instrumental Play - e.g., questions of content and meaning of interpreted work, questions of stylistic orientation of interpretive performance, etc. The course is organised in a seminar form, its significant part is the individual work of students with the supervisor of the bachelor thesis. Part of the seminar is fine-tuning the choice of topic: students are presented by the department with topics potential for processing based on current problems of the field, and at the same time, they are given the opportunity to submit their own proposal. The topic should give the student the opportunity to creatively apply their own experience of their studies and practice in the field of music performance education. The first stage of the work is aimed at finding and collecting sources of the necessary information — source and literary material relating to the chosen topic with a focus on mapping the current state of the problem solution. In the next — central - part of the work, the student's own contribution is expected as a result of his own individual invention and creativity. In the final stage, the teacher directs the student's attention to summarizing the most important findings and conclusions from the research on the topic.
