The aim of this course is to consolidate and broaden students' knowledge of English literature from it beginnings up to the present through complex and multi-perspectival thematic units and their setting into relevant historical, social, political and social contexts. The seminars are conceived as combination of factual introtuction to individual themes given by the teacher, short students' presentations, and moderated discussion based on students' home reading and preparation. At the end of the course the students write a reflection essay on a generally formulated literary theme, in which they are supposed to use their knowledge of English literature to support their argumentation.
