Basis for comprehensive analysis builds on the knowledge acquired in the subject Structure of Music I and is supplemented by deepened knowledge in the field of music history while focusing on specific issues of selected phenomena and affecting general and special relations. Music-historical issues include a selection of styles and personalities that illustrate the typical characteristics of the epoch and style and importance for the development of musical culture. 1. The meaning in music - conception, historical point of view, current tendencies, pedagogical applications 2. Liturgical music for original and concert purposes, intertwining of purposes (Palestrina, Bach, Beethoven, Gounod, Dvořák, Eben, Hanuš, Pololáník) 3. Romantic and contemporary vocal music - a word as a concretization of a musical message (choral works of the 19th and 20th centuries, the relationship of words and music) 4. Song in the work of important composers of romanticism and the present (Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Janáček, Bořkovec, Eben) 5. Program music - musical and non-musical storyline, aspects of musical importance (Berlioz, Liszt, Smetana, Dvořák, Novák) 6. Music of Impressionism, Continuity and Synthesis (Debussy, Novák) 7. Expression changes during music development (Liszt, Schönberg, Berg, Hába, Sommer, Klusák) 8. National schools of romanticism, folklism and neofolklorism (Smetana, Dvořák, Fibich, Novák, Janáček, Enescu, Bartók, Kodály) 9. Extended tonality - traditional form with new content (Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Martinů, Krejčí, Eben) 10. Small forms and genre pictures (Schubert, Schumann, Smetana, Janáček, Hanuš, Sluka) 11. Nonartificial music, relationships and transformations with artificial music 12. Music as an accompanying component of film, drama, social events
