Annotation
This course focuses on goals and content of elementary science education with scientific literacy being the main focus. Also, the results of international tests (PISA and TIMSS) are analysed with respect to elementary science education. The last part of the course is dedicated to elementary science learning conception at elementary level in course participants' country

Course completion requirements

The schedule of the course is irregular. Students take the introductory three lessons together with the Elementary Science Experiments course students. Later, the groups part and the Elementary Science Education group focuses solely on elementary science education tasks.

For passing the course, 80% attendance is required. The final examination is conducted by means of he students' presentation of their learning tasks together with a defence of the tasks' purpose in education. Students also submit a portfolio of five tasks suitable for elementary science education with the objectives, addressed cognitive processes as well as evaluation of students' learning progress described.
