The course is suitable especially for science-oriented students who passed English level at least B1 at secondary schools. Except for exercising and deepening elementary grammatical phenomena, the goal of the course is to acquaint the learners with the specific science vocabulary and also with the fundamentals of effective communication in English.
The grammar part of the course follows the level B2, i.e. the FCE exam and is a part of every lesson. The participant’s vocabulary is deepened using authentic science-oriented texts. Effective communication is cultivated by writing abstracts and annotations in English, CV, emails and scientific papers writing basics.

Kurz je vhodný především studentům přírodovědně laděných oborů, kteří na střední škole absolvovali angličtinu na úrovni minimálně B1. Mimo procvičování a prohlubování základních gramatických jevů je cílem předmětu seznámit posluchače se specifickou slovní zásobou v oblasti science i se zásadami efektivní akademické komunikace v angličtině.
Gramatická složka předmětu sleduje úroveň B2, tedy hranici zkoušky FCE a je součástí každé lekce. Slovní zásoba posluchačů je prohlubována prostřednictvím autentických, přírodovědně laděných textů, jejichž četbě i překladu je věnována další část seminářů. Efektivní komunikací se rozumí psaní anglických abstrakt a anotací, zásad stylu psaní životopisu, odborných textů i mailů v angličtině.

Course completion requirements -
A condition to successfully pass the course is primarily active participation (80 %). The learners will also get particular tasks along the course. The entire course will be concluded with a test of knowledge gained in the course.
To get the credits, it is necessary to reach at least 60 points in the final test.

Podmínkou úspěšného průchodu kurzem je v první řadě aktivní účast (80 %). Posluchači v průběhu kurzu plní dílčí úkoly provazující jednotlivá setkání.Celý předmět je ukončen testem znalostí nabytých v průběhu předmětu.
Pro udělení zápočtu je zapotřebí dosáhnout alespoň 60 bodů v závěrečném testu.
