Annotation

The aim of the course is to introduce selected worksof realistic novel / realistic novella in German. These are the dominant genres of the Realism. Theseminar concentrates on the theory of both genres,their development and changes, the analysis of narratingas fiction, the analysis of concrete works. The content of the course: Theory of novel and novella in the 19th century (Storm, Vischer, Heyse). Analysisof novel and novella: Types of narration, types of narrators, types of fiction, typology of novel. Novel: Freytag, Keller, Raabe, Fontane. Novella: Storm, Keller,C. F. Meyer.
