The aim of this course is to introduce the development of pedagogical way of thinking to students, namely the thinking of educational institutions and educational politics during particular cultural periods. Students learn evaluate historical and pedagogical phenomenons and methods of scientific work in the history of pedagogy. The content of the course is the education during the Classical Ages, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, ..., the 19th and 20th century, especially the development of pedagogical thinking and the pedagogy itself as the scientific sphere. The other important things such as the development of relationship between the state and kirk in areas of education, the process of liberalization of education, the status of child in education, the process of "teacher profession creation" and teachers education are discussed. Especial emphasis is given to Komenský, Herbat, the reform pedagogy and education in Czech speaking countries.

Cílem studijního předmětu je seznámit posluchače s vývojem pedagogického myšlení a vzdělávacích, zejména školských institucí a školské politiky v jednotlivých kulturních epochách, naučit je hodnotit historickopedagogické jevy, seznámit je s metodami vědecké práce v dějinách pedagogiky a naučit se je používat. Obsah: Výchova v období antiky, středověku, renesance, osvícenství, 19. a 20. století. V rámci toho sledováno: Vývoj pedagogického myšlení a vývoj pedagogiky jako vědního oboru, vývoj institucionalizace výchovy a vzdělání, vývoj vztahů církve a státu v otázkách výchovy a vzdělání, proces demokratizace vzdělání, dítě a žák ve vývoji pedagogické teorie a praxe, proces konstituování učitelské profese a vývoj učitelského vzdělání. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována pedagogickému myšlení Komenského, pedagogice J. F. Herbarta a herbartismu, reformní pedagogice.
