The stages of development of standard literary Czech. The outstanding Bohemicists and prominent scholars of the history of Czech linguistics. The functions of standard literary language and its stylistic distinction according to the goals and forms of the utterances. The present situation of Czech. The functions of the standard literary language; the cultural and civilizational role of the standard literary language; the tendencies toward widening and narrowing of the gap between the standard literary language and popular interdialects; the norm of the languge; the actual norm of the standard language and its concrete codification in textbooks and other manuals.
