The purpose of this seminar is to show how the study of linguistics can be applied to the description of language styles and varieties. Students are introduced to the method of stylistic analysis; lexical, syntactic and semantic markers of style are reviewed and samples of different functional styles compared. Topics of final theses can be included according to the needs of individual students.

Smyslem tohoto semináře je ukázat, jak lze studium lingvistiky využít k popisu jednotlivých stylů a variant jazyka. Studenti se seznámí s metodou stylistické analýzy; zopakují si lexikální, syntaktické a sémantické stylové ukazatele a budou porovnávat ukázky z různých funkčních stylů. Na základě potřeby jednotlivých studentů lze do programu semináře zařadit témata jejich diplomových prací.
