Analysis of several fundamental writings of prominent contemporary American linguists (N. Chomsky, C. Fillmore, A. Zwicky, B. Grosz, J. Pierrehumbert and others) with a detailed discussion. Attention will be focused on issues of general linguistics, especially from the domains of syntax and of its relations to semantics.
