The lecture contains the physical and mathematical formulation of equations of meteorological prediction models, i.e. the hydrostatic and non hydrostatic baroclinic models and principles of their numerical solution.

Contents of lecture from input: selection of coordinate systems in horizontal and vertical direction, formulation of model equations based on principles conservation laws, energetics and consistency of the model, initialization of input data, formulation of initial problem and boundary conditions, Eulerian and semi-Lagrangean time integration model equations.
