Heat capacity under constant volume and pressure, basic thermodynamic relations. Heat capacity of lattice vibrations, Debye and Einstein model, comparison with real materials, anharmonicity. Heat capacity of conduction electrons. Heat capacity of magnetic materials and superconductors, paramagnetic and magnetically ordered state, dimension of the magnetic order, critical phenomena.
Experimental methods of heat capacity measurements, static and dynamic measurement, adiabatic and relaxation method. Practical realization of experiments and the experimental accuracy. Measurement of transuranium samples.
Practical aspects of data treatment, danger and limitations. |
