The Seminar III provides introduction into the important aspects of the future carrier in the research and academic
institutions. Also, the course provides an overview of the research funding possibilities and highlights current non-
scientific topics, such as work and gender balance.
First, the approach on how to build a successful scientific carrier from the very beginning will be discussed. Next,
the funding strategies, grant schemes and important aspects of the grant applications will be presented.

Successful scientific carrier - meaning, approach, ingredients. Basics of research funding - national/EU strategies, funding bodies, grant schemes; composition of research grants, peer review. Specific criteria in biology, chemistry and physics; facing interdisciplinary demands; role models (discussion with invited guests at different levels of carrier).
