Definition of bioinformatics and its importance for biophysics and chemical physics. Overview of relevant databases and software packages for bioinformatics and their operation. Ontology. Aspects of experimental methods important for bioinformatics. Mathematical principles of data analysis in bioinformatics. Artificial intelligence methods, data reduction approaches, multivariate statistical methods. Applications of bioinformatics (examples of genomics, proteomics and pharmeceutical industrial applications).

Vymezení pojmu bioinformatika a vztah disciplíny k biofyzice a chemické fyzice. Prehled nejd ů ležit ě jších bioinformatických databází a obslužných program ů a jejich funkce. Ontologie. Aspekty experimentálních metod významné pro bioinformatiku. Matematické principy zpracování dat v bioinformatice. Metody um ě lé inteligence, redukce dat, multivariantní statistické metody. Aplikace na reálné problémy (p ř íklady z genomiky, proteomiky, farmaceutického pr ů myslu).
