Annotation -
The main goal of the course is to enable students to verify and test their theoretical skills and knowledge in practice as part of a field trip. The subject prepares an ideal environment for trying out the methods planned for research in the framework of bachelor's, but also master's theses in the field of socio-geography. Before the actual field trip, an introductory lecture will take place, which will familiarize students with the planned trip, its more specific focus, goals, but also with the theoretical background of the research. As part of the field investigation itself, there will be an opportunity to try different research methods, methods of data collection and their analysis. These include mapping (social, physical structures), surveys/questionnaires, interviews with important persons (mayor, etc.) or visual methods. Time will be devoted to the discussion of preparation for individual methods and phases of research, as well as the transfer of findings from the field, incl. experience and experiences during implementation. The field investigation will take place in May 2025, the exact date and location will be specified in March 2024. The course will be partly paid for by department funds (accommodation). Students pay for meals and transportation themselves (the amount for transportation should not exceed 500 CZK, meals depend on individual needs).

Substitute fullfilment in case of serious health problems can be discussed with the guarantor of the subject.

In a difficult social situation, a student can apply for a scholarship to the study department.
